I am all about layering on the highlight and I love having dewy, glowing skin. My hands-down favourite highlight brand for formulations and colour are the Becca Cosmetics highlighters, they are the most beautifully pigmented highlights and although they are expensive you absolutely get your moneys worth with the large pan size and quality. Even on minimal makeup days, I love having healthy looking, glowing skin and highlighters absolutely help you achieve that. When I apply highlighter I apply it to the tops of my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose, my brow bone, above my brows, my chin and my cupid’s bow (above the top lip). In the summer time, I’ll even apply my highlight to the tops of my shoulders and my collar bone which looks beautiful with a tan. I also love using these highlights as eyeshadows, they’re very pigmented and creamy.
Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed – Opal, Moonstone, Champagne Pop, and Champagne Glow Palette
Champagne Pop is my favourite highlighter I own, it has a golden peachy undertone that is supposed to flatter every skin tone. I could honestly just take a bath in this stuff, I love it so much. This shade was done in collaboration with Jaclyn Hill the queen of highlight, she is incredibly beautiful and talented and anything she creates is very high quality. This shade was intended to be limited edition but has recently been announced as a permanent item.
Opal is the first Becca highlighter I ever purchased, it has a pinkier undertone and looks better when I have a tan and my skin is a bit darker. I wouldn’t recommend this for very pale skin tones.
Moonstone has a light golden tone and looks absolutely beautiful especially when I’m paler. This colour is perfect for an inner-corner highlight or brow bone highlight.
Champagne Glow Palette
The Champagne Glow palette that came out over the holidays combined the shades Pearl, Champagne Pop and Blushed Copper. Blushed Copper is a bit different and is meant to be used as a blush overlay, I use this strictly as an eyeshadow because it is too dark for me to wear over a blush. The shade Pearl has now come out as a permanent shade which I am very excited to get when I run low on the one in this palette.
The Balm – Mary Lou Manizer
This highlight is incredibly intense and highly pigmented, this product is half the cost of a Becca highlight but just as high quality, I am very happy with this product.
Laura Mercier – Baked Matte Radiance Highlight 01
I love this product for days I want a subtle glow, this highlight gives the skin a radiance rather than a shine. It’s by no means matte but does not have an intense shine like the other highlights I own.
Hourglass – Ambient Lighting Palette
I use this Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette as face powders rather than highlights because of the way they reflect light on the face and brighten your skin. I use Incandescent Light underneath my eyes to brighten. I use Radiant Light around the perimeter of my face as a light bronzer and I use Dim Light on other parts of my face that I want to set because it is more matte and won’t look like I just put glitter all over my face.
Benefit – Watt’s Up
I love Watts Up on days that I have minimal makeup, it applies really well and looks more natural.
