Hey there fellow adventurers!
With the nice weather upon us I thought it would be nice to do a review of on my favourite hiking spot, Webster Falls. For those of you who don’t know, this little gem is located just outside of Dundas on the escarpment! The trail’s scenery is so beautiful it has even been featured on the TV show Murdoch Mysteries! You can go the main way and use the parking lots that the park provides for you. When you park on the top of the escarpment you have the option of going to Dundas Peak/Spencer Gorge which has amazing views. I would rate this trail as an average hike, nothing too difficult, but there are hills and a few narrow parts, the official distance to the peak is 3km. When you are hiking to Spencer Gorge you will also come across another water fall called Tew’s Falls! In comparison to Webster Falls it looks small and inadequate but it is still quite the sight and very peaceful and serene. (Below is a picture I got from google images because I didn’t own a good one of the Peak)
Now as mentioned earlier there is a non conventional way to get to Webster Falls and my personal fav! So rather then parking at the top of the escarpment you need to park at the bottom, right under the railway bridge or the golf course. Then you will see a trail opening and you actually get to hike up the escarpment to see the waterfall! However, words of warning if you go this way, it is for avid hikers who are okay with ledges, climbing over fallen trees, climbing over rocks and the occasional walk through the water. There is even an option where you can walk across a fallen log! When I go this way I like to bring a lunch and sit on one of the big boulders in the middle of the water!
Once you finally get to the falls you can hike around, climb the stairs that go to the top and, if you are feeling overly ambitious you can continue to Spencer Gorge/Dundas Peak!
If you guys ever find a cool trail or want me to review one let me know! I’m always on the hunt for my next adventure! I hope you guys go out this weekend and make It a good one !
