My Make Up Collection Product Reviews

My MAC Lipstick Collection

March 31, 2016

Here is a list of my MAC lipsticks, listed in no particular order, and what I usually pair them with. I am a huge MAC lipstick fan and I love the vanilla scent they have.

This lipstick is a beautiful nude that looks really naturally pretty with my fair to light skin tone. I love applying this lipstick over top of MAC’s Naked lipliner. This lipstick has an “amplified” finish so it isn’t completely matte but has a slight satin finish and it’s super opaque. This is definitely one of my favourite lipsticks.

I love this lipstick in the tube but as soon as I put it on my lips it is just way too much for me. I think one of the reasons I don’t like this lipstick on me is because I’m not a fan of the “lustres”. This lipstick just looks super weird on me which is a shame cause it’s a really pretty colour.

I recently started wearing this lipstick more often as I’m getting into the soft peachy spring makeup trends. I love pairing this lipstick with the Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in Creamsicle. This lipstick has a “cremesheen” finish which is a bit less shiny than a “lustre” but a bit more shiny than a “satin”. In the photo below I am wearing Ravishing with Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in Creamsicle over top.

This lipstick is one of my favourites because it is a perfect mauve colour that isn’t too dark for my light skin tone. I have tried this product by using a light layer on my lips and also by building it up to a very opaque colour and both ways it looks really beautiful. I like to wear this lipstick on its own without a lipliner. This lipstick has a “satin” finish.

Cosmo is a different kind of colour with a burnt terracotta undertone to it. Cosmo has an “amplified” finish. This colour only looks good on me when I have a bit of a tan so I haven’t worn it in a while. I like this lipstick on its own without a lipliner.

Full Speed

This lipstick is in a totally different tube with a different formula than the other MAC lipsticks. Full Speed is a “sheen supreme” lipstick. I like to wear this lipstick on its own and over top of MAC’s lipliner in Chic Trick to make it last longer.

Impassioned is a brighter version of Full Speed. To keep this lipstick from moving around on my lips I like to pair it with MAC lipliner in Chic Trick. Impassioned has an “amplified” finish.

Ruby Woo

I really wanted to love this lipstick but because it’s a “retro matte” it’s super matte and dry and it’s so hard to get a good even application. I find this lipstick totally dries out my lips and accentuates the dry cracks and lines on my lips. I also find that because the product starts out really dry in the tube it skips across my lips and I can’t get a crisp line around my lips even when I use a lipliner underneath it. I love matte lipsticks but for some reason this lipstick is just too matte for me.

Velvet Teddy

Matte lipsticks are my favourite finish because they make my lips look fuller and they stay put longer without smudging or rubbing off with eating or talking. I love to pair this lipstick with the MAC lipliner in Whirl. This combination is the original Kylie lip colour that everyone is super obsessed with.

Viva Glam III

This colour is the darkest lipstick I own and I love to pair it with the MAC lipliner in Whirl. Viva Glam III has a “matte” finish.

So just as a side note, I have a little acrylic container to organize my lipsticks which I picked up off of Amazon for about $5 CAD.

[…] The second look I created with these products is a dark purpley/mauve look with an emphasis on big lashes. From the L’Oreal La Palette Nude 2 I used the shade 3 initially as a transition shade in the crease and then added shade 9 to deepen it more and added shade 10 to the very outer corner of the eye and under my bottom lash line. I used my L’Oreal Infallible Shadow in 002 Hourglass Beige (purchased myself) again all over the lid and in the inner corner, I tightlined my upper lash line with the L’Oreal Never Fail Eyelner and the coated my top and bottom lashes in the L’Oreal Voluminous Original Mascara. I filled in my brows with the L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer and set my brows in place with the L’Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper in Medium/Deep (purchased myself). I paired this look with my MAC Cosmetics Lipstick in Brave (see my full MAC lipstick collection here). […]
