My Skin Care Routine: Morning and Night

June 28, 2016

IMG_6438Hi Everyone,

My skin care routine has changed a bit lately. I’ve got a lot more hormone and stress related acne the past few months and have been looking for a good skin care system to get rid of the multiple breakouts I’ve had. My skin is very sensitive and dry-combination but with the new skin care regimen I’ve been using its been more dry-dehydrated.
The three-step system that I’ve found to actually make a huge difference in my skin is  from Clinique. I purchased all three products in a small trial sized set so I could test out the products without spending the money on the full sizes without know if they would work. During the first two weeks of using the skin care the dry areas of my face became extremely irritated and became very raw and sore. I started using a low percentage hydro-cortisone cream on the irritated patches, morning and night, and it cleared up in about two days. After the first two weeks my skin adjusted to the new products and my acne disappeared completely and I’ve been able to go out without makeup on and not
be self-conscious about my skin. As I’ve used the Clinique products I have adjusted how often I use them to combat IMG_6440the dryness of my skin.

I use coconut oil to remove my makeup at night and the Clinique Acne Solutions Cleansing Foam to wash my face morning and night. After the first two weeks of using the  morning and night I found it really harsh and irritating on my skin so now I only use it at night and sometimes only every other day if I’m feeling extra dry. The third product in my acne regimen is the Clinique Acne Solutions All-Over Clearing Treatment which I have used both morning and night. In the mornings I’ve been layering my moisturizers because I find that my skin gets dried out as the day goes on. So after applying my Clinique Acne Solutions All-Over Clearing Treatment I usually apply my Peora Beauty Facial Cream, which is super lightweight, and then I apply my Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47 to protect my face from the sun. Once every one to two weeks as an extra exfoliating step I’ve been using the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intense Exfoliator.

I have tried a few facial serums and eye creams but have had trouble finding products that actually make a difference in my skin. I’m going through a deluxe sample from Sephora of the Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream the past three weeks and have really been loving it.

[…] I got sent a few VICHY products from Chick Adviser to test out. These products are supposed to be used in conjunction with each other to address dry, sensitive skin. I have really dry sensitive skin and I’ve gone through a really strange breakout the past few weeks and have gone through some acne products from Clinique but it has dried out my skin pretty badly so I was really excited to see how these products worked. You can see my earlier skin care routine and the products I use regularly here. […]
