Hello and Happy Thanksgiving ,
This week features my friend Brieanah! (@brieanahfuller) This outfit was also worn to our end of the summer staff dinner. Fun fact, almost the entire outfit was bought from Value Village!
Brieanah likes to shop at Value Village because “The clothing is unique and the store is constantly updating it’s selection. You never know what you’re going to find! Thrift shopping is sooo much cheaper!”
I agree, thrift shopping is awesome for many reasons!
- Thrift stores keep landfills a little less full
Second-hand stores are super eco-friendly! Selling/Buying clothing to/from stores such as Value Village, is essentially the same as recycling! Value Village keeps more than 700 million pounds of used goods from landfills each year!
Clothes are able to be worn until the threads are worn through, and even then, most fashion trends include having holes in your clothing. (Yeezy attire, ripped jeans, etc.) So technically, you could continue to wear your clothes for a very long time (Depending on the circumstances). And if you don’t want them before that time comes, hopefully this will help you decide what to do with them.
- The opportunity to find something of value for cheap is always there
Who knows, you might find a vintage jacket, or a high end name brand blouse for way cheaper than if you bought it at the real store. It’s like playing the lottery, you have to enter to get a chance to win!
- Thrift stores help the community
A second-hand store provides an affordable option for low-income households by offering goods at a reduced price. Value Village, specifically, helps more than 120 nonprofit organizations by paying them for donated goods. Value Village operates over 330 locations, employing 20,000 people in Canada, the United States and Australia.
